Idiocy in the patent world: A Tekapeel rant.

Patents have long been the staple diet of many company's, satiating their everlasting appetites that yearn for the opportunity to flex their rippling legal muscles.

Once, patents where a good way to keep your company's tech protected. For long years did company's live in relative harmony under the new lord patent until something happend. They discovered the secret power locked in the very depths of the patents soul and abused them. What happend next, can only be described as a complete and total mockery!

The leader of patent spats surely has to be Apple, for all its merrits; they seem to be intent on destroying rival products for the smallest intricate detail or massive vague one that slightly relates to their own. Take, the black bezel around the screen of a phone/ tablet as a prime example. The bar was set by this spate of odd and confusing patent wars that ravaged the pages of sites like Cnet and engadget for years. Until the fateful day when Hasbro, lord of toys and creator of the mighty Action man; rose up to do battle with Asus. As conquering and sucsesful as its namesake would suggest (Pegasus). The recently released transformer prime and its forbearer (the transformer) bear a resembalence in name to hasbro's popular series of transformer robots. Hasbro, get this, has sued asus for calling the tablets they created 'transformer'. I will now give a moment for the hillarity to die down. Well, maybe it wasn't that funny; i would go on a wild explanation of how this is a ridiculoas alagation and the likeness between a huge killer robot and a harmless (but no less monstrous) tablet.

Mull it over lads and ladettes, and don't forget to comment and like us on facebook (Please, it REALLY helps!)

My top apps

Apps are now a major part of modern technology in phones, tablets and iPods so we at Tekapeel have given you our top apps.

1. Doodle jump
it was bound to be here a addicting and popular game where you jump form platform to platfom to each a highscore. Throughout the gameplay their are jet packs, trampolines and spring boots to help you as well as monsters that do the very opposite. This fun addicting game is a simple graphic based game and is controlled by tilting your phone from side to side.

2.Wordshot
this app is a travel app that uses your phones camera to translate one language of text into another language for example French to English. There are many types variations of this app throughout most app stores. This app is ideal when on holiday or translating for french homework .

3. Angry Birds
Angry Birds is a well known physics gaming app . It is a physics game where the angry birds are catapulted into the pigs fortresses to destroy them and get revenge for their stolen eggs, the gameplay lasts throughout around 300 missions and is addicting and time consuming for any age group. I have not been able to complete it yet and had it many months so if you manage to complete it you're a better man than me.
warning: This game can get very frustrating

4.Fruit Ninja
The aim in this game is to use your finger on the screen to cut up the fruit as it fly's around the screen. Combo on the game for example getting two pieces of fruit with one swipe will end with you earning more points. I personally like this game and have spent may happy hours cutting up oranges and watermelons. Watch out for the bombs!

Alienwares new baby eater!

Have you ever looked at something and thought to yourself: that thing is evil... ?

Well, that is nothing compared to the sheer terror that rips through you when you lay your eyes on this modern reincarnation of jack the ripper. The new Alienware aurora is the continuation of the series of the same name, but nothing like this has ever bulldozed its way out of dells laboratory's before.

The new aurora carries intel's latest throbbing cpu, the i7-3960x. It carries 6 cores, 15mb's of cache, turbo boost to 3.9 ghz, a max memory size of 32gb and one spec that puts the rest in hobnail boots and fingerless gloves: The price (999 dollars of cpu-y goodness!). Not only is it carrying this truly malevolent beast, it also packs 8gb's of RAM (up to 16) and a pair of 1gb AMD Radeon HD6870's AS STANDARD!

Well, the gaming performance will surely be worthy of the price (£1 shy of £2000). But it doesn't end there, no sir. The case is the next matter to attend, what to say about it...Well, im fairly sure it can make even the most hard of hard men soil themselves in one defiant pulse of the fully customizable FX Lighting that emanates from the beating heart of the hard skinned killing machine.

Lock up your loved ones, no one is safe...

Android take a shot in the arm

The technology company Android who specialize in phones and tablets are having issues with Microsoft. Microsoft who are a computing company are telling people they will give away free phones (rumored to be a Lumia 900) . Microsoft are handing out this "freebie" to certain people who spread the faults they have about the Android models and software. Android have not shown anything to their defence yet but people have already been hoping for their new freebie and have sent in some bad reviews and faults. Will Android come to the defence of their products only waiting can tell.

Is bribing people to try and use them as leverage against a rival company wrong, please comment your opinion on the matter lads and ladettes we will try and reply as soon as possible.

Is Samsung short changing google?

The android platform was released to an audience locked with iphones, an endless list of icons satiating there endless hunger for a really customizable interface. The original android phone, the g1 or htc dream, wasn't exactly a beautiful beast. It was thick and the inside didn't contain any cliché beauty either. It was what was on the screen that was really exiting... coming on 4 years later, android is the worlds most popular phone platform powering countless amounts of smartphones from dinky little wildfire's to monsters like the sensation and samsung's galaxy s 2. That leads us on to googles series of 'pure' devices; the second, the nexus one, was a brilliant phone. It carried all the latest technology's and a beautiful unibody courtesy of taiwans HTC and it was indeed pick of the HTC crop for a good long time. Then for reasons unknown, google switched to samsung as the maker of future nexus devices. Judging by the brilliant galaxy s, the next nexus would surely be a complete stonker. To our dismay, it was a nexus one with a plastic body. This came as a great shock as but a little while later; samsung released the dual core beast that has been given phone of the year award by more people than i care to mention: The galaxy s 2. This ruined the nexus s in all aspects and seemed a tad unfair on google, they signed up fo some inovative kit and what they got could be even considered a downgrade! Next up, with quad core technology quite feasible in a phone, samsung released the google nexus 'prime'. A dual core phone that was almost the same as the galaxy s 2 in every respect save for a slightly updated screen and a WORSE camera. With the galaxy s 3 looming, will google continue with samsung or go back to old HTC?

Heres a tip google: Switch back to HTC!

What do you think? Have the samsung sourced nexus' been worth it?
